Ambassador of Belarus holds a meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Zimbabwe
10.06.2026On June 10, 2026, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Zimbabwe Yury Nikalaichyk held a meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Zimbabwe Hon. Adv. Jacob Mudenda.
The meeting took place at the new Zimbabwe Parliament complex in Mount Hampden.
The Speaker of the National Assembly highly praised the outcomes of his visit to the Republic of Belarus and his participation in the II International Inter-Party Conference State Sovereignty and Principles of International Relations in Conditions of Multipolarity and Diversity in the XXI Century, held on May 28-29 under the auspices of the Belaya Rus party.
The intention to facilitate the further expansion of cooperation between the Parliaments of the two countries and political parties, aimed at achieving tangible results in the interests of the peoples of Belarus and Zimbabwe, was emphasized.
During the meeting, Hon. Adv. J. Mudenda conveyed a letter of gratitude addressed to the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Igor Sergeenko and invited him to pay a return visit to Zimbabwe.
A substantive discussion took place on steps to develop political and economic cooperation and strengthen human contacts.
Hon. Adv. J.Mudenda supported Belarus initiative to launch the drafting of a preferential trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and Zimbabwe.
The parties also noted the importance of continuing joint projects in the fields of agricultural mechanization and food security, education, energy, humanitarian exchanges, development of industrial cooperation, digitalization, and building contacts between the youth of both countries.
Following the meeting, the Ambassador briefed Zimbabwean media on its outcomes.
Upon assignment of the Speaker of the National Assembly the Ambassador was also given a guided tour of the new Parliament building complex, which has become the first key element of the new government smart city under construction.
