On the celebration of the Victory Day
09.05.2026On May 9, Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Zimbabwe Yury Nikalaichyk, defense attaché and Embassy staff at the invitation of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Zimbabwe took part in a commemorative event in honor of the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War.
In his welcoming address Y.Nikalaichyk noted that the war years were the most tragic for Belarus and at the same time the most heroic in history. More than 440 natives of Belarus were awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union. The largest partisan movement against the invaders unfolded on the territory of our country. There is no such Belarusian family that would not be affected by the Great Patriotic War.
The Ambassador stressed that preserving the memory of the feat of the Soviet people in the combat against fascism is part of our national memory and consistent State policy. He focused on the inadmissibility of rewriting the history and glorification of the Nazis and their accomplices. The Ambassador confirmed readiness of Belarus to continue relevant joint work with like-minded countries.
The event was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Serbia to the Republic of Zimbabwe H.E. Radiša Grujić with his wife, diplomatic mission staff and citizens of Belarus and Russia working in Harare, media representatives.
